Vision

We have a three- fold approach.

Intentional Leader: As a high school ministry staff, we believe our primary role is to raise up adult leaders who relationally invest in our students lives. This means they are a person who will go to the students sports, take them out for coffee, listen to them, serve the community together, pray for them, support them, and challenge them spiritually. They are intentional about students not just coming to a program but being transformed by Jesus as they become his disciples.

Relational environment:
Relational environments are places of deep Christ-centered community where students are KNOWN and where they KNOW others. It is a place where everyone understands, it is ok to not be ok, just not ok to stay there. Relational environments are a place for anyone in any place in their faith journey to belong. We provide the opportunity for these relational environments to happen in our house groups.

Reproducible process:
The point of following Jesus is to make disciples who make disciples (Matthew 28:16-20). Our hearts desire is that every student understands how great his or her purpose and influence is. Our goal is that students don’t wait until they are older to engage in the mission of Jesus. That is why we encourage our students to share Jesus with their friends, bring them to house groups or church, and connect them with adult leaders. A good example of what we’re saying is, football is only fun when you actually get to play. If we asked our students to come every day to practice so we could teach them hours upon hours of theory on football but we never let them play the game, we would quickly loose students to something more exciting. We don’t want to just teach our students a great deal of theory ABOUT faith and never have actually helped them practically live out the mission of Jesus. Therefore, their leader models the discipleship process to them so they will be able to do the same in their own context.

We do this by making biblical disciples in relational environments. A biblical disciple is a person who follows Jesus, is being changed by Jesus, and is committed to the mission of Jesus.

The Rolling Hills high school ministry exists to reach all students of the South Portland area one person at a time for Jesus.
